- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr. Jeff Babon is an ARC Future Fellow and heads a Laboratory in the Cancer&Haematology and Structural Biology divisions at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
The group of Dr. Babon focusses on the regulation of Cytokine Signalling, in particular the inhibition of JAK/STAT signalling via the SOCS (Suppressor of Cytokine Signalling) family of proteins. He uses structural biology and biochemistry to study mechanism within these pathways to understand the role they play in haematological disease. Dr Babon’s group was the first to elucidate the mechanism used by the inhibitory protein SOCS3 to inhibit IL-6 signalling.
